Yati led the European Education Alliance for Music and Sound in Media meeting at Soundtrack Cologne on 25th August 2016. The meeting consisted of topics related to European Collaboration, and presentations led by Andy Hill, J.U. Lensing (Fachhochschule of Dortmund) and Pauline Patoux (inMICS). Recording in the Reid Concert Hall of Guitar Concerto (2011, re-orchestration 2016)
Yati conducted a complete premiere recording of Guitar Concerto (2011, re-orchestrated in 2016) with a professional orchestra led by violinist Daniel Paterson on 23rd June, 2016. The guitar soloist at the recording was Ben Malinowski. Technical assistance and chief recording head was by Roderick Buchanan-Dunlop.
Collaboration with animator Joan Gratz on a new short film
I'm currently working on a new collaboration with the Academy Award winning animator Joan Gratz entitled Primal Flux. The work features rich and lush pressed clay that morphs through many layers of symbol, creatures and faces. I'm working on some new composition techniques that incorporate electronics with improvisation on traditional instruments. The cellist Justyna Jablonska has joined me for one session so far, and the work continues.
Academic paper at Seeing Sound conference Bath Spa University on Improvisation to Screen
Yati gave an academic paper presentation at the Seeing Sound conference on multidisciplinary sound/image and music at Bath Spa University on 9th April 2016. His paper was entitled Spontaneous Composition for Screen: A brief overview and observations on preliminary methods in practice with linear and non-linear improvisation for instruments and electronics.
