Scoring of new film "Journey to the Self" with Fehmi Gerceker in 2018
Yati is currently scoring the documentary film "Journey to the Self" directed by Fehmi Gerceker for production in 2018. The film, a feature-length exposé into the life of environmental activist June Haimoff, will feature music Yati is composing utilising electronic and acoustic environments that reminisce through June's life as well as illustrate developments and drama of the times surrounding her. It should be interesting! Some information about the film is found here.
Disklavier research for Saundaryalahari 2 at HKU Utrecht
Yati has recently returned from several days of research into his next composition for Disklavier and electronics entitled Saundaryalahari 2. The work is inspired by the evolution of Saundaryalahari 1, which was premiered in Edinburgh in June 2017 and also by the collections of late player-piano collector and contemporary music advocate Jürgen Hocker with whom Yati has had contact as a student during his time in Cologne. The new work is expected to be finished some time in early 2018 and will be performed in Edinburgh, with subsequent performances also in Utrecht and elsewhere.
