For a 5th year in a row, Yati will moderate the presentation and head the jury of the European Talent Award for film score and sound design at Soundtrack Cologne 17 on Saturday, 17th October 2020 in Cologne, Germany. This award, now in its 17th year, has become one of the most prestigious compositional awards in Europe focussing on film scoring and sound design. The Jury-members this year are the conductor Gordon Hamilton from the WDR Funkhausorchester, composer Stephen Warbeck, composer and director Maya Lavelle and composer Diego Baldenweg.

Additionally, Yati will also head the newly-renamed AcadeMeet IMMSANE Europe (formerly EEAMS) on Thursday, 15th October 2020. This initiative is designed to share research, discuss pedagogic resources and issues and disseminate new ideas in teaching film music and sound design and it is by invitation only for colleagues in the HE field, professionals and their students. Soundtrack Cologne partners with IMMSANE to create a platform for the regional association of IMMSANE at this meeting.

Due to the Covid pandemic, Soundtrack Cologne 17 - which was originally planned to take place in April - had to be moved TWICE, to take place during this week.

Creative Scotland funding award for development of Saundaryalahari 3!

Yati has been awarded a funding award from the Creative Scotland: Sustaining Creative Development Fund for development, research and composition of Saundaryalahari 3! This award will support the compositional research for this work for the next several months, which is turning out to have quite some new technological demands.

Saundaryalahari 3 will be Yati’s third “series” of works inspired by the 8th Century Indian literary work in Sanskrit written by Adi Shankara called the Soundarya Lahari or Saundaryalahari (Sanskrit: सौन्दर्यलहरी) meaning "Waves Of Beauty”. The composition involves compositions that utlise a hybrid audio-visual system that portrays the complex geometric/spiritual design of the original texts while updating and presenting the work in a multi-media format for public performance.

Development of Saundaryalahari 3 including research, experiments, finished pieces and concerts is being documented on a special research site here. It is turning out to be exciting and new work!

The first experimental live performance of Saundaryahari 3 will take place at the International Media Music and Sound Arts Network in Education (IMMSANE) Zurich congress on Friday, 2nd October at 8pm in the Dolby Atmos Studio of the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). An audiovisual recording of the performance will be posted on the Saundaryalahari 3 research site later.
